Seeking Glue-free and Plastic-free closure of paper packaging |
| |
We are looking for a technology to seal paper packaging materials (paper only with no plastic coating) without using traditional glues or any other additive. For a sustainable packaging application, we're looking for a technology to seal or crimp kraft paper without using glue or plastic coating applied on the paper. Ideally, we want to seal 100% untreated paper without adding any other chemicals. Our preferred solution would be a folding of the packaging material |
Seeking Recycling technologies for biodegradable films |
| |
We are looking for solutions to convert bio-based packaging back to starting materials or other high-value added chemicals (no fuels). |
Seeking existing market solutions targeted towards crawling insects |
| |
The issue of crawling insects in homes has been an ongoing issue. The popular types of crawling insects causing problems have been ants and cockroaches. The search will focus on existing market solutions targeted towards crawling insects such as ants and cockroaches (other types of crawling insects are in scope i.e., bed bugs). |
Diagnosis and Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis |
| |
Researchers at The University of Manitoba have identified an endogenous pathway that appears to play a key role in the development of MS pathogenesis and may allow for the development of novel markers for early diagnosis, disease prevention and personalized therapeutic approaches. Utilizing MS patient samples and a preclinical mouse model, researchers have discovered that a decline in the plasma levels of the signalling protein Nrg-1b1 is positively associated with MS development and progression, and could be potentially used as an early disease marker to help in MS diagnosis. |
Microbial extracts from saline marshes with outstanding moisturizing, UV-filter, wounding care and metal chelant properties |
| |
Saline marshes are natural environments with hard conditions supporting life due to the high concentration of salts. Thus, microbial flora surviving there needs to develop high performance molecular mechanisms to retain water against osmotic pressure. Biochemize has developed a low-cost and non-invasive process for the isolation of those microorganisms and to obtain from those biomass extracts (containing high amounts of carotenes, licopenes and flavonoids, among other) with high capacities for the retention of water (much higher that those from hyaluronic acid), for filtering UV-radiation, for wounding care, and with outstanding properties as anti-oxidants and/or metal chelants. Applications for pharma, cosmetic and agrofood industries are proposed. A first set of studies of the properties of these extracts is available. |
CogniSense reduces machine downtime through remote system-level monitoring |
| |
The effective remote monitoring of rotating equipment such as HVAC systems or conveyor belts is valuable to ensure reduced downtime and peak operating efficiency. Researchers from Imperial College have developed CogniSense; an IoT device that can monitor machine state-of-health accurately, for any mechanism exhibiting cyclical motion. By transmitting a radio signal and detecting the response, a signal corresponding to the motion of the distinct machine components (e.g. gears and bearings) can be captured and analysed. CogniSense even works through walls, and a single device can be used to monitor multiple machines (rather than requiring individual on-board mounting like other existing systems). |
